Who are Early Morning Balloons Limited?
We are family owned and operated business which has been part of the ballooning experience on the east coast of the North Island since 1992.
The company has an excellent reputation with both customers, the Civil Aviation Authority, and within the Tourism Industry.
Why do we start so early?
The best time to fly is early in the morning when the conditions are usually clear, calm, stable and romantic. We do not fly in wet or windy conditions.
How long does it take?
We fly for approximately one hour. You should allow up to four hours from when we meet you until we return you to the same point. A retrieve vehicle and crew will be following the balloon throughout the flight, staying in radio contact.
Is there an age limit?
The minimum age is eight years. There is no upper age limit. We have regularly flown people in their 80's and 90's. All children must be accompanied by an adult (we do not recommend flights for children under the age of ten years).
How fit do I have to be?
Ballooning does not require a high level of fitness. You should be able to stand unaided and climb into the basket. If you have a serious medical condition or perhaps have recently had a hip replacement, we advise you to check with your doctor for your own peace of mind.
Do I need a "Head for Heights"?
No. Vertigo seems to be associated with tall buildings, mountains and bridges etc., which are connected to the ground. A balloon does not sway or tilt in flight so will feel quite secure.
Is it safe?
Statistically ballooning is the safest form of flying. Our balloons are inspected and certified in the same way as an airline. Every twelve months or one hundred hours the balloons are inspected by qualified aircraft engineers.
What should I wear?
It is warm in the balloon so you should dress as if you were going for a walk outside. We suggest that you wear walking boots or similar, not high heels. Practical outdoor footwear for frosty or damp conditions under foot is ideal. White clothing is not recommended.
Who are the Pilots?
All our pilots are fully qualified professional Commercial Balloon Pilots. They have to undergo regular flight tests conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority.
